SLEEPING WITH LIGHT ON MAY CAUSE CANCER >> Sep 9 2004 >> Parents warned of night-time hazard >> By Lorraine Fisher >> >> KIDS who sleep with the light on could risk >> leukaemia, parents were warned yesterday. >> >> Scientists have found the body needs darkness to >> produce a chemical that fights cancer. >> >> Even switching the light on for the toilet, >> staying up late, travelling across time zones, >> or the light from street lamps can stop enough >> melatonin being made, they say. >> >> The body needs the chemical to prevent damage to >> DNA and its absence stops fatty acids reaching >> tumours and preventing them growing. 'O' levels Oral examnitiOns
supposed to post this here yesterday but slipped my mind. anyway just read it as though it was written yesterday.
who would've thought that just 6 hrs ago i was facing 2 kinda giggly oral examiners, not knowing if they were actually xiao li cang dao or something..
well, heard that those 2 were the best examiners of the lot; thank God i didn't get the mumbling guy or the plump plum lady. the examiner sitting on the left kept smiling (did that for nearly every candidate except..clement?).. guess she was trying to make us feel relaxed but maybe she overdid it a little. the other examiner did most of the talking tho.. before i could sit down the usual question came on how my name was pronounced. said my name twice cuz i thought the first time wasn't very well-pronounced and i thought she was going to continue with "..and what's the meaning of 'yeda'?" but apparently she wasn't interested in that =/
so, yep, just blabbered my way through passage and picture discussion (some walkathon thing) and was kinda hopeful for conversation when she said "tell me about your favourite.." - i thought "sport" since it was related to the picture and was what ki and i had prepared and hoped for =P but nah, something close - "..walk." then my mind blanked out cuz i couldn't think of many significant walks i had and i forgot the walkathon around pandan reservoir earlier this year. ended up talking about my lower sec years in xcountry somehow.
moved on to the topic on pets since the picture showed some little girl walking a dog. asked if i would let my 5-year-old child have a pet of his own and why. then whether i thought pets nowadays are being too pampered by their owners.
basically that's about it.. before that while waiting everyone was just nonsensing to ease our nerves.. and just as i was about to go prepare ah dao was saying something about wanting to shock the world after the first 3 months next year by dying his hair blue then coming back to collect his results. jas asked him what shade of blue and pointed to a really dark shade in front of him then jas and i unanimously answered "chey!" cuz we were expecting electric or sky blue or something more shocking. ah dao said he'd consider it if he had enough money and jas volunteered to pay for his dye if he let her pick the colour. dunno if he took the gamble cuz i left then..hope ah dao's up to it =P funny guy... after being tested he came and talked to us for awhile before remembering that he left his bag in the audi i think.. so went back to get it.. i wonder how the examiners felt about that!
tricked ki and jason today.. ahh, i think it was william who said it before regarding abby.. about how her expression can sometimes be so priceless when caught by surprise/shock. guess that works for everyone. if only there was a camera there and then. reactions of people are so worth remembering... priceless.
*yawn.. been a long day.. nitenite~ =)
online again - so i broke my promise =P
bugger. flu's got me.
not going to sch tmr =)
blurdo raph screwed up this sat's dinner seating for me. to cut a long story short, i might have to sacrifice my place at the teens table and be transferred to the yfers' one.
*mumble raphyougood mumble*
so many other incidents i can think of to illustrate his sotong-ness but nah.. don't deserve the brain juices of a sick person.
just realised why huiwen asked me if i kept my phone beside my bed when i sleep. i should've suspected something when she replied "ok, that's good!" with that sly smile on her face.
setting the phone alarm to 2am ain't funny, especially when she's got the license to hibernate till early afternoon. of course, she didn't know that then but even so, waking a person up at 2 when she's supposed to be awaking at 6 could disrupt her sweet dreams of bē-4ac < 0. maybe i wouldn't mind so much if she intended to wake me up with a phone call =P tho hearing the voice of a zi lian kuang in the wee hours of the morning is freaky =P
bleargh~ medicine's making me drowsy.. nite~
*glares*
HAHAHA...
the way you're meddling with my mind.
pathetic.
yet.. am i thinking too much again..?
p.s. i guess this is gonna be the last entry until after Os. =/
i'll miss yoU.
