Today's Assignment

Today's Assignment: Write a rough draft for the first paragraph (introduction) for the essay.
My essay topic: Happiness is not always all about being beautiful and rich.

Rough Draft (Introduction):
Someone once said, "If you have nothing but a friend, you're rich." This quote is one of the many statements that claim how happiness is not always all about being beautiful and rich. There are so much in life to be happy about and unfortunately many people believe that the only thing that can make one happy is being beautiful and happy.

I'm not done with my rough draft yet....No time!

Today's Topic

OK...I'm supposed to type about my opinion about mainstream schools and deaf schools... I'm a half-day student at Sprague High School, a mainstream school with only four deaf students, and at Oregon School for the Deaf, a deaf school with over 100 deaf students.
If one asked me which school I like the best, I would say deaf school. I'm a people person and I absolute love to socialize with my peers. At OSD, I am able to communicate with all my peers easily because we all use sign language. At SHS, I am able to communicate with only few students who know a lot of ASL. I can communicate with those who do not know sign language using interpreters but it can be quite tiring.
Mainstream schools tend to be more challenge for many students than at deaf schools but that is just because the deaf students tend to be below average since many did not have a good source of language at young age. Generally, I like public school because it is huge, however; not everyone know you... As for a deaf school--you are likely to be known by everyone since it's usually small.
I'm satisfied wtih my half day schedule at both schools because I get to live in two different worlds and I still get to socialize with both of my hearing and deaf friends.

First Entry

Here I am, updating my very first entry on www.ebloggy.com! The online journal site is okay but I definitely preferred the other online journal sites, especially www.greatestjournal.com! Since my school, Oregon School for the Deaf, has banned GJ and LJ (livejournal) we had to find a different journal site that can be used at school. So--my teacher, Gayle, found this site and decided to use it for my Advanced Writing class. We are starting a unit on The Formal Essay. We will start with timed essays. As we were waiting for the computer lab to be available, my fellow classmates and I were sitting in the library... I saw the book that I used to love as a young child, "The Rainbow Fish" by Marcus Pfister and I decided to write an essay based on the mortal of the story. My theme is basically going to be about how being beautiful and rich doesn't always make you happy. Wish me good luck on writing the essay!
